Tulips!
Love these spring surprises! Planted these tulips last fall and didn't remember that I had planted them near the Sum and Substance hosta. The big leaves of that hosta will cover the tulip foliage - good planning!
Mulching
Last year we didn't add mulch to the front borders or edge them, because I didn't have time. So I have been busy this month trying to get the front borders weeded, edged, and mulched. I moved my Twist and Shout hydrangeas last fall - hoping that in their new spot they will bloom. Lots of weeds popped up around them, so I laid newspaper under the mulch to keep the weeds down. I am also using corn gluten in the borders for weed control.
Fern leaf Peony
My fern leaf peony was full of blooms this year! Luckily I took a picture because with the warm weather, it is already finished blooming.
Plant Moves
This tree was in our front yard and my son and I moved it to the back. It is a thornless hawthorne, and it is doing well in its new home.
Lots of winter burn on the evergreens this year and these junipers really looked tough, so out they go. I moved them to the back yard. Really wasn't sure what I wanted to add to replace them, but finally decided to put in some Technito Globe arborvitaes. My plan is to trim them to a hedge when they get bigger.
Here are the new shrubs. I chose the Technitos because I have a couple near the house and they did not suffer any winter burn.
Pasque Flower
I added these Pasque flowers to the bed under my redbud last fall. The top picture is the bloom, bottom is the fluffy seed head.

Horstmann's Silberlocke
Such a beautiful tree! A bit late for planting evergreens, so I am making sure it gets watered every couple of days until the ground freezes.
